Last one, I promise

I swear this is the last thing I’ll post about the Rush Limbaugh kerfuffle. Apparently, Republican Congressman Phil Gingrey, from Georgia, of all places, criticized Limbaugh. His statement, posted below, is brilliant. It illustrates perfectly and tactfully how stupid Limbaugh is.

I mean, it’s easy if you’re Sean Hannity or Rush Limbaugh or even sometimes Newt Gingrich to stand back and throw bricks. You don’t have to try to do what’s best for your people and your party. You know you’re just on these talk shows and you’re living well and plus you stir up a bit of controversy and gin the base and that sort of thing. But when it comes to true leadership, not that these people couldn’t be or wouldn’t be good leaders, they’re not in that position of John Boehner or Mitch McConnell.

Of course, this statement generated much ill will from Limbaugh’s followers. How very dare he say anything against this paragon of human intellect and virtue? This light of reason and sense, this man who can do no wrong? From Wonkette:

These remarks … won him the hatred of every mouth-breather in America, who seem to have called his office to yell about nothing in high volume.

And so it came to pass that Gingrey groveled on Limbaugh’s show, basically begging not to be burned alive and served with a side of abortion doctor and mango salsa. In other words, he gave Limbaugh MORE publicity, and just a little more legitimacy.*

Again, I’m not asserting that Limbaugh ought to be silenced. What I am suggesting is that he be ignored. PLEASE.

*Yes, I realize that by blogging about this, I’m also giving the man publicity. That’s why I’m not going to do it anymore, because I’m sure both of my readers don’t really care about him that much anyway.
