Married people have smaller carbon footprints

According to an Australian lawmaker. There are no citations of any research supporting this claim, though it does make intuitive sense. Watch out for the last paragraph, though:

Fielding, who leads the independent Family First party, grew up in a family of 16 children and has been married for 22 years, his website says.

Married couples may have smaller carbon footprints than two people living apart, but I’m positive that people who can’t stop fucking and don’t understand birth control are not doing the world any favors. Wouldn’t the ideal setup be a married couple with, at most, one kid?
